Diploma in Accounting and Business
The Diploma in Accounting and Business aims to provide foundation knowledge and business skills for industry practitioners and those who wish to purse better knowledge in the field of accounting and business. It provides the knowledge of the infrastructure required by further study of the advanced diploma in accounting or other business fields. This course develops your knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles, concepts relating to financial accounting. You will need to demonstrate technical proficiency in double entry techniques, including the preparation of basic financial statements, as well as simple consolidated financial statements for group incorporated business. You also need to be able to conduct a basic interpretation budgeting and performance measurement.
* At least 17 years old; and
Any of the requirements below:
- 3 ‘O’ Level Passed OR
- Recognised Secondary School /Secondary Specialised Diploma;
- equivalent;
* Language Requirement: Pass English Test, and obtain at least 39 out of 50 of the test.

1. Business Organization and Accounting
-In this module, learners will learn the contents of Business Organization and its environment, Business Organization Structure, Accounting and Internal Control, Leadership Theories Fundamental principles of ethical behaviour.
2. Cost Accounting
-In this Module, learners will learn the following contents: Accounting for Management, Source of Data, Cost Classification,Presenting Information, Accounting for Material, labour and overheads, Absorption and marginal costing,Cost accounting method.
3. Budgeting
-In this module, learners will learn the contents: Nature and purpose of budgeting, Budgeting techniques, Budget preparation, Flexible budget, Capital budgeting and discounted cash flows, Budgetary control and reporting, Behavioural aspects of budgeting
4. Performance Measurement
– In this module, learners will learn the contents of Standard costing systems, Variance calculations and analysis, Reconciliation of budgeted and actual profit, Performance measurement overview, Performance measurement – application, Cost reductions and value enhancement, Monitoring performance and reporting.
5. Principles of Accounting
-In this module, learners will learn these contents: The qualitative characteristics of financial information, The use of double-entry and accounting systems, Recording transactions and events.
6. Financial Reporting
– In this module, learners will learn the contents of: Preparing Trial Balance, Preparing basic financial statements, Preparing simple consolidated financial statements, Interpretation of financial statements.
